The View From Here

If you have been reading these last few posts–this one won’t surprise you. We met foodie Maria for happy hour in Manhattan Beach. After deliberating with an intensity I haven’t seen in quite some time, foodie Maria decided to take us to a place where we could “experience the beach” and settled on a view of the Strand at a place called, the Strand House Restaurant and Bar.

The restaurant is perched on the ocean–and it was amazing to sit at the bar upstairs, chat with friends and watch the sunset in the reflection of the bar mirror. We enjoyed a delicious cheese plate and had fun waiting for the traffic to die down. Because we sat at the upstairs bar, we did not have an opportunity to test the snappy little wine machines that greet you when you walk in the door. As you enter the restaurant a row of wine stations dispense wine by the glass, half-glass or taste. A very cool concept, especially of you were waiting for a table or wanting a little sample of something special! I’m putting this on the list of things to do next visit!! We did however continue our love affair with Willamette Valley Wines and tried (and loved) a wine called St. Innocent a yummy Pinot Noir that is apparently named for winemaker Mark Vlossak’s father–who introduced him to wines!
